M to E. Fitzgibbon, 1 June 1868 (in this edition as 68-06-01a). M's letter was read at a meeting of the Melbourne City Council's Health Committee on 3 June 1868: 'asking permission to plant the slopes of Princes Bridge agreed to. Also to cut the head of the stump which stands in the adjoining swamp not agreed to. Also for permission to impound cattle trespassing on the Road agreed to.' (Unit 1, VPRS 4039, Public Record Office, Victoria).

Not tree-stumps; M's letter asked permission to 'to remove the natural small basalt-stones which are cropping out on Jollimont-road'. Point 2 in M's letter referred to 'cutting the summit of the single tree', the 'stump' mentioned as denied in the minute above.

illegible.

See M to E. FitzGibbon, 20 June 1868 (in this edition as 68-06-20a).
