My dear Sir

Having now returned to town for the winter I have resumed printing. Three more sheets are in type but I have not the clean copies in time for this mail and must defer them till the next. They contain Gentianeae Boragineae & the commencement of Convolvulaceae.1 The remainder of that family and Solaneae are at the printers and I am now at Scrophularineae. I hope to get Utricularineae2 and small Personate orders into this volume but Acanthaceae Verbenaceae and Labiatae must stand over for the 5th3 In that volume after the above and small allied orders I shall take the Curvembryous orders (Nyctagineae Phytolaccaceae amaranthaceae Chenopodiaceae & Polygoneae) then the Laurineae Proteaceae Thymeleae4 etc which I suppose will fill up the 5th vol. leaving the Euphorbiaceae Urticeae and other Orders of reduced structure for the 6th

I found on my arrrival in town your Euphorbiaceae which had come by the Essex but you will see by the above that it will be long before I shall come to them. This however is not of much consequence as they have been so recently worked up by J Mueller Baillon and yourself.

I have received your letters of June and July for which many thanks — I see nothing requiring5 special answer but to thank you for all your good wishes and I get so tired of writing that I have not patience to enter into long correspondence.

As soon as this volume is printed I shall be obliged to proceed slowly as I have two or three other things that I must get on with — I shall however keep on steady work as long as I am able

Ever yours sincerely

George Bentham
