From Edmund FitzGibbon to Ferdinand von Mueller   4 Dec 1868

Town Clerk's Office

Melbourne

4th December 1868

My dear doctor von Mueller,

I sometime since received a letter from you suggesting the placing of an entrance gate &c in the fence of the approach to Princes Bridge near the Immigrants Home to allow of the passage of drays and other vehicles along the south bank of the Yarra towards the Botanical Gardens1

The Public Works Committee of the City Council to whom I mentioned the matter have desired me in reply to tell you that so soon as the necessary roadway along the river bank shall be made the Committee will entertain the question

Yours very faithfully

E. G. FitzGibbon.2
