From Ferdinand von Mueller to Frederick McCoy   28 Feb 1869

28/2/69

It affords me much pleasure, dear Prof M'Coy, to send you some additional fossils from Mr Wintle, received this day,1 also the larva of the galls of Acacia pycnantha, which however has perished already. It seems to be quite different from the larva of a [Cynips].2 Perhaps you would afford obligingly your learned information on these subjects.

Always your

regardful

Ferd. von Mueller

Acacia pycnantha

See S. Wintle to M, 22 February 1869 (in this edition as 69-02-22b).

Cynips was a well known genus of gall-producing wasp, not just in Acacia.
