From Ferdinand von Mueller to Albert Purchas   [May 1869]

[Read letter from Dr Mueller stating that he is unable to supply the plants asked for, for the Cemetery.1]

Letter not found; the text given here is from the minutes of the monthly meeting of the Cemetery's Trustees held on 9 June 1869. The application for plants had been lodged very late (see A. Purchas to M, 15 May 1869); M's letter is dated on the assumption that he would have replied promptly.

In the light of M's letter, the Trustees resolved 'that tenders be obtained for the plants required', and instructed that 'the Gardener in future to apply earlier in the season for any plants necessary; also to raise all that he can from seed'.
