From Ferdinand von Mueller to Ronald Gunn   7 Aug 1869

Melbourne bot Garden

Dear Mr Gunn.

I have to pay you a thousand thanks for your very kind disinterested and valuable transmission of Isoetes, which I shall at once render accessible to the Bordeaux Monographer,1 together with your valuable notes, so that they may be quoted and incorporated in his essay

We have Pilularia only as yet found in one spot in Victoria I fully concur in your views about the distribution of the water plants and the agents affecting them.

May I be allowed to enclose this poor little portrait for your friend the Rev. H. P. Kane, who so kindly left his for my Album. If an other copy is acceptable to you I will gladly send it. I need not say that I should be so glad to enrol yours in my gallery of Celebrities. 2

Ever most regardfully

yr
