From Ferdinand von Mueller to Edmund FitzGibbon   9 Aug 1869

9/8/69

I am sorry to say, dear Mr Fitzgibbon, that the toll keeper, at the St Kilda road still has his fowl at large1 and that the birds have successively ruined a number of young trees. It is strange, that such a person should dare to set all public authority at defiance.

The only way, allow me to remark, is thus to deal with such people summarily, in including in the licence a clause, to keep no domestic animals at all on the spot.

With best regards.

Ferd. von Mueller
