18/8/69.
Since some time, dear Dr Story, I owe you my acknowledgement of a kind letter you wrote to me already in June.1 The beautiful little Orchid, enclosed in your letter, is a species of Chiloglottis. I have to work on several rare Orchids soon, and will enclose yours in the examination.2 It is very kind of you to wish me to visit Swanport, and if at any time I can accomplish it, I will not deprive myself of the pleasure. It will afford me much pleasure to examine the plants, brought by young Mr Meredith from N.Z.,3 if a numbered set was forwarded to me. Your search for water plants, including even the little Lemnas, is likely to give us some new plants for Tasmania.
With kind regards
Ferd. von Mueller
Let me hope you are quite well.
