To Joseph Hooker1    14 October 1869

14/10/69

Would it be possible, dear Dr Hooker, that I could be obliged with a box ful of roots of Veratrum viride? Perhaps Prof Asa Gray would help in the matter.2 This plant in its marvellous effect on the circulation prevents the fibrin-deposits in aneurism & reduces these in an extraordinar manner. I would like therefore to cultivate the plant in Australia. Perhaps Veratrum album might be had at the same time. Pray do not forget a few roots of Eriophorum polystachy[ar]um.3

I wonder how my Todea arrived.

Always your

Ferd. von Mueller
