No more Eucalyptus Globulus seeds have been procured, but about 20lb of it has just arrived from Tasmania and can be secured at 18/ each, if the hon. the Chief Secretary should desire it.

On 28 September 1869 the Acting Secretary to Government, Fort St George, India wrote to the Chief Secretary, Melbourne, James McCulloch: 'In acknowledging your letter, dated 14th August, 1869, No. 2,374, I am directed to convey the thanks of this Government for the case of the seeds of the Eucalyptus Globulus therein referred to, which has been duly received. | 2. The Madras Accountant-General has been requested to arrange for the remittance to your Government of £11-9-0, being the cost of the supply | 3. With reference to paragraphs 3 and 4 of your letter under reply, application has been made by this Government direct to the Government of Western Australia for a supply of the seeds of the Eucalyptus Marginata. | 5. Should any further quantity of the seeds of the Eucalyptus Globulus be still wanted, I shall duly advise you of the same, and again request your assistance.'
The Under Secretary, W. Odgers, asked on 4 November 1869: 'Will the Director of the Botanic Gardens have the goodness to say whether any more seeds have been procured for the Government of India'.
Odgers minuted on 10 November: 'I think Dr von Mueller should purchase 10lb weight to make up the quantity applied for by the Governor General, and send it to this office for shipment by next mail steamer. Has he succeeded in getting the seeds of the Ironbark tree?'. M replied on 2 December: 'I have as yet been unable to get the seeds of the Ironbark tree, but am likely to obtain them during December from Sandhurst. Ten lb of seeds of Euc. Globulus (Blue Gumtree) have been purchased from Mr Adamson at 18/ each, and will be packed into a metal-lined case and sent to the hon. the Chief. Secretary's Office in time for the outgoing mail. Mr Adamson will present his account.'
On 25 January 1870, the Assistant Secretary to the Government of India, Fort William, India wrote to the Chief Secretary, Melbourne: 'I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter No. 3371, dated 6th December 1869, intimating the despatch of a box containing 10lbs of Blue Gum Seeds for the Chief Commissioner of Mysore addressed to the Government of Madras. | 2. I am at the same time directed to convey the thanks of the Government of India for the courtesy of the Government of Victoria in the matter' (W70/2753, unit 695, VPRS 3991, PROV).
