MS is in a clerk’s hand; it is undated but annotated by Krauss: 'No 527. | Ferd. v. Müller | Dec. 1870'; cf. another list of wood specimens sent by the Lincolnshire, M to F. von Krauss, January 1870 (in this edition as 70-01-00), with annotation by Krauss: 'Nr 527' and received by him in December 1870. The two consignments were probably received together. The set of specimens listed by M in January 1870 was probably the one that Sonder told Krauss in June he had delayed sending on to Stuttgart in the hope that a second set promised by M, surely that listed here, would arrive so that the two could be forwarded together (see W. Sonder to F. von Krauss 29 June 1870 (in this edition as M70-06-29)). Later, railway disruptions following the outbreak of the Franco-Prussian War delayed transmissions (see W. Sonder to F. von Krauss, 6 September 1870 (in this edition as M70-09-06) and W. Sonder to F. von Krauss, 26 October 1870 (in this eition as M70-10-26)). The present list is dated to April 1870 since Sonder told Krauss in his letter of 29 June that the consignment had been sent two months earlier.
