From Ferdinand von Mueller to Daniel Bunce   6 Aug 1870

Melbourne bot. Garden

6/8/70.

Accept my best thanks, dear Mr Bunce, for your goodness in sending the fresh Clianthus seeds. In response to your call I send now through Mr Rob Bird1 a case with Conservatory plants, not many; yet you will see my good will at least. I am so short-handed, that I cannot do much for others now, however much I may wish.

Whether I can after all respond to your kind invitation is very doubtful. The complications in my department involve so much loss of time, that I am far less able than even formerly to muster spare hours. But I am all the same grateful for your attention & that of your Lady.

Pray tell Mr Douglas2, that I was very sorry to miss his kind visit. I was on duty in the industrial Museum when he called.

With my best wishes your

Ferd. von Mueller.

Clianthus
