From Ferdinand von Mueller to Joseph Hooker   10 Oct 1870

10/10/70

The enclosed seeds, dear Dr Hooker, I beg to recommend to your special care. If you raise these plants, you will be delighted with them. I trust Capt. Ridgers, who is very attentive, will bring the few plants under calico safely to you. In all probability I cannot be wrong to send you a root of Typha Muelleri. Dr Rohrbach is advised by me to complete his knowledge of the Typhaceae at Kew. The root starch and root fibre of all these plants is important. Can you oblige me by sending me a copy of your last estimates of Kew as voted by the House of Commons. I require it much for one or two of my friends in our local Legislature.

With best wishes

Ferd. von Mueller
