Newyearseve 1870
Will you be so kind to inform me, dear Mr Odgers, whether I can send my return consignment for the La Plata Republic direct to Mr Verdon, for transmission, or whether the whole arrangement must be made through the C. S. Office. It seems to me to save much writing and trouble, if I could forward the case direct on board. It will be probably ready in time for the Kent.
With my best new years salutation
Ferd. von Mueller1
On 5 January 1871 W. Odgers minuted: 'There is no objection to Dr von Mueller placing the case on board the Vessel but the Bill of Lading shd be sent to me for transmission. The rule that all correspondence for the Agent Gl. shall pass through this Office cannot be relaxed'.
T. Ware to M, 24 January 1872, requested the return of this letter. The form requesting return is attached to this letter, and also includes three other items.
