Letter not found. The text given here is from 'Notizie', Nuovo giornale botanico italiano, vol. 3 (1871), p 105, in a set of notes signed 'E. M.', who has not been identified. It is possible that the letter was sent to the Botanic Garden in Florence, where the journal was based, rather than to the journal.
