To Joseph Hooker 1    25 February 1871

Melbourne bot Garden

25/2/71

I would like to mention to you, dear Dr Hooker, that I have flowered Vanda suavis from Arnhemsland in my Vict. reg. House.2 This gives us the genus Vanda for Australia now.3

The glass case and the case with Willows brought by Mr Winter4 are to cost not less then £8:18/ freight, which Mr Winter will probably be so generous to pay. You see however, that careful prearrangement in all cases should be made to prevent afterwards exorbitant charges of freight.

Your regardful

Ferd. von Mueller

I will write to [Mr] And. Henry by this or next mail.5
