To Joseph Hooker1    25 March 1871

2[5]/3/71

When, dear Dr Hooker, are we to get a new general Index to the Botanical Magazine? it is a most helpless affair to work with this grand opus, for not every institution has the rich votes of Kew to make manuscript catalogues &c. It is always with some hesitation that I approach the Bot Magazine, as it takes so much time to find a thing out, particularly in the volumes issued since Pritzels supplement.2

Always with

best regard

Ferd. von Mueller

I have got now Dawsonia polytrichoides, from a tropical position 18o S lat. (Rockingham's Bay.)
