[Copies of memos & letter addressed to Director]1
In June 1871, W. Ferguson, Inspector of Forests, wrote to the Chief Secretary 'respecting peculiar circumstances in which he is situated at Botanic Gardens' (No. 7875, vol. 1871 Z, VPRS 1186, Public Record Office, Victoria).
Letter not found; item is a register entry, entered on 23 June 1871. Duffy replaced James McCulloch as Chief Secretary on 19 June, and the registration date suggests that M wrote soon after that. See also M to J. MacPherson, 8 April 1870.
