From William Odgers to Ferdinand von Mueller   18 Aug 1871

Chief Secretary's Office

Melbourne 18th August 1871.

Sir,

I have the honor to request that you will instruct the Inspector of Forests1 to proceed to Sunbury at an early date and prepare a report upon the state of the farm and garden attached to the Industrial Schools. After this to proceed to the Model Farm at Flemington and ascertain the number, kind and condition of the Olive trees there and whether they are available for propagation. The Lessee of the farm I have no doubt will make no difficulty in allowing Mr Ferguson to inspect the trees and grounds if he mentions the object of his visit and by whose authority it is made.

I have the honor to be,

Sir,

Your most obedient servant

W. H. Odgers

The Director

Botanic Gardens

&c &c &c

William Ferguson.
