From Ferdinand von Mueller to William Guilfoyle   3 Sep 1871

Melbourne bot Garden

3/9/71.

Would it not be well, dear Mr Guilfoyle, if a short memorandum did appear in the Sydney Morning Herald concerning the rare plants, found by you on the Tweed,1 also on those new for N. S. Wales.2

Among the latter are Sterculia quadrifida RBr and Acronychia imperforata FvM. Mr Moore's services should not be overlooked. He brought many rare plants from Mt Warning & the Tweed; indeed I think he was the first, who collected there extensively, although you supplemented his discoveries. Public notice is likely to call forth imitation of your zealous example in collecting.

The greenflowered largepodded Creeper is Mucuna gigantea D.C.

With best salutation

Baron Ferd. von Mueller.
