Melbourne im bot Garten

3/12/71

Baron Von Mueller.

Melbourne Botanic Garden,

3 December 1871.

Enclosed, noble Sir, I am sending you a few seaweeds from Port Denison,1 which might be welcome to you.

Since I last wrote, I also have fresh trunks of

Blackith & Co, Cox's Quay, Thames Street, London, you can secure for yourself a trunk of each species as a private gift from me. The departure of the Niagra2 was delayed until this week.

With respect your

Qld. Specimens collected by F. Kilner. Agardh (1873-90), part 1, cites several Kilner specimens he has seen, for example Caulerpa kilneri (p. 43), from 'White (sic) Sunday Island Novae Hollandiae calidiorem', and C. falcifolia (p.16) from 'Port Denison'; others are less specific, for example, 'ad oras boreali-orientales Novae Hollandiae ' (p. 15).

Niagara cleared out of the port of Melbourne, bound for London, on 9 December; see Argus, 11 December 1871, p. 4.
