Again, rev. and dear Sir, I send a few fungi, trusting that you will bring your unrivalled knowledge to bear on their examination. If you require some monetary subsidy for any illustration or other expenses, and if you will kindly let me know your views on the subject, I will readily meet them as far as I can.

your regardful

Ferd. von Mueller

In cases, when no drawing can be furnished, I shall be glad to get back one normal specimen for the State Collection here. Many of the genera and occasionally the species were known to me, but I rather left them unnamed. I have however described a second Australian Phallus for the fragmenta, the new species being one of those with long reticulate overhanging veil.1

I was occasionally tempted to work on apparently new fungi myself, but have left rather all the material in your hands.2

Phallus

The only Phallus known to have been described by M, P. vitellinus, was described in B70.12.03, p. 122. See M to E. Ramsay, 20 December 1872; M to M. Berkeley, 12 February 1872; and M to G. Bentham, 15 July 1872 (in this edition as 72-07-15a).
The final paragraph is a marginal note on the front of the folio.
