Within the last few days, dear Dr Hooker, I received from the Museum of Wellington1 for naming a set of the plants lately collected by Mr Travers (jun) in the Chatham Islands. This collection augments the number of the known species to about double of those recorded in my little work 8 years ago.2

I intended to give you a brief list of the additional species, but have not been able amidst the mail work to complete it. There are however but very few plants among the lot, which are not already in your manual3 enumerated, and also these few do not contain, as far as I have yet seen, anything strikingly singular.

With best regards,

Ferd. von Mueller.
