Sir

I have the honor by the direction of the Hon W. M. K. Vale to acknowledge your letter to him of the 5th inst[.]1 Mr Vale desires me to thank you for your courtesy in complying with what you believe to be his wishes on the subject, but to assure you that he never expressed a desire that you would place in the Industrial Museum the medals which have been awarded to you.

I am requested however to thank you for the donation you have so generously proposed and to inform you that your letter will be laid before the Committee of the Industrial Museum at their next meeting.
