You will find, dear Mr Bentham, that among the specimens of Dendrobium teretifolium, sent by me, are some with more slender leaves, a somewhat different inflorescence & slight other characteristics upon which Mr Fitzgerald & myself have separated it as D. Fairfaxii.2

B72.14.02, p. 360. Bentham (1863-78), vol. 6, p. 285 did not recognise D. Fairfaxii as a distinct species.
