From Thomas Cole to Ferdinand von Mueller   27 Jan 1873

My dear Baron,

I received by the last mail from England a letter from Dr. Hooker of Kew in which he requests me to assure the President, Officers & members of the Horticultural Society of Victoria that he "accepts most gratefully" their offer of Honorary membership.

I shall, if you will allow me, have much pleasure in proposing your name in conjunction with his as also an Honorary member. It is not much for one so eminent in the scientific world as yourself & who also has done so much for the Society, but still as a small token of esteem & regard it may not be unworthy your acceptance.2

Please answer by return and oblige

Yours very truly

Thos. C. Cole3
