To George Bentham   25 February 1873

Melbourne bot Garden

25/2/73

I hardly remember, dear Mr Bentham, whether I mentioned to you last mail, that Blancoa and Androstemmea constitute only sections of Conostylis. All Haemodoraceae and Scitamineae1 as well as all true Liliaceae and probably also all allied orders will be shipped to you next month, leaving only Glumaceae here then of all Cotyledoneae.

Among the additions recently made to the plants of Victoria are; Lobelia rhombifolia, Utricularia lateriflora Homoranthus virgatus, Schelhammera undulata, Eucryphia Moorei.

I certainly will send a series of Fici [&] Bureau as you desire2 shall certainly have a series of the Australian Fici and I will send him at the same time all my extraaustralianones and the Casuarineae &c. It is miraculous how rapidly and safely you get over even such difficult things as these Figs, when the analysis requires such a firm hand for manipulating the dissections, and when also the eyesight of one of venerable age is not though3 generally acute enough for the minutiae of such work.

May Providence grant you long yet strenght, both mentally & physically, for your glorious work.

Always with deep regards your

Ferd. von Mueller
