From Ferdinand von Mueller to the Gardeners' Chronicle and Agricultural Gazette   [Apr 1873]

[We learn from Baron von Mueller that great Mortality has lately existed among the Cattle in certain districts of the Colony of Victoria, and which is attributable to their having eaten the herbage of a Lobelia, L. pratioides.]

Lobelia pratioides

Letter not found. For the text given here, see Gardeners' chronicle and agricultural gazette, 31 May 1873, p. 741. The letter is dated to April 1873 as the latest likely date that it could have been sent to have been reported in this issue. This date is consistent with letters mentioning the problem in March 1873; see for example, M to J. Kerr, 23 March 1873 (in this edition as 73-03-23b).
