From Ferdinand von Mueller to James Hector   16 June 1873

Melbourne bot Garden

16/6/73.

Accept my best thanks, dear Dr Hector, for sending me through Mr Gore1 the new volume, which reflects great credit on your administration and on the zeal of your cooperators.2 I have placed it in the Library of my museum; that I could not absolve fully yet my obligations, concerning the Chatham Island plants you will understand, when you reflect how I had to "struggle for existence" for the last year and more. When I get peace, I will give my attention to them.

Your friend

Ferd von Mueller

How far have you got my fragmenta.3 I will endeavour to complete your set
