From Ferdinand von Mueller to James Hector   2 Aug 1873

Melbourne,

2/8/73.

I beg to send you, dear Dr Hector, a list of Algae, which I compiled from the named specimens of Mr Travers's last collection, returned to me by Dr Agardh, by the last mail. I trust it will be acceptable for your new volume.1 The harrassing anxieties, which I have had for more than a year in my Department, have prevented me to do anything further with Mr Travers plants.

your regardful

Ferd. von Mueller

Can you kindly send me soon any good specimens ♂& ♀of all N.Z. Restiaceae. I am working on the order for Benthams 7th vol.2 and should like to compare the N.Z. species as I do the S. African.

Restiaceae

Agardh's list follows M's introduction in B74.06.01.

Bentham (1863-78), vol. 7, pp. 208-46. M treated Restiaceae in B73.08.01, pp. 64-101, including comparisons to New Zealand and some South African species.
