It may interest you, venerable friend, that I have sent (or rather am about to send) my third contribution towards the phytography of Tasmania to the local Royal Society.1 Your honored name and that of Mrs Meredith2 occur frequently in the essay. The Lady found many rare Algae, four new to science!
I am now working on Cyperaceae, Restiaceae and allied plants for the 7th volume of the Flora of Australia.3 If you could kindly cause any of such to be collected in your swampy and heathy district, then most likely rarieties would come to knowledge. The works of the divine power are so wonderful and so useful, that we never can study them too much. Trusting you are well and happy I remain your regardful friend

M's paper was read at that meeting (Papers and proceedings of the Royal Society of Tasmania for 1873, pp. 51-2).
