Chief Secretary’s Office

Melbourne 21st March 1874

Sir,

I have the honor by Direction of the Chief Secretary to forward to you the 11th Part of Major Beddome's "Icones Plantarum Indiae Orientalis",1 received from the Government of Madras.

I am to state that Part 10 of the same work has not been received, but that it has been written for.2

I have the honor to be

Sir

Your most obedient servant

Thos. Webb Ware

Acting U. Secy.

The Government Botanist

Melbourne

Beddome (1874), part 11. The work was issued in 15 parts. Turner (2012), p. 304, reports an 1873 'cover year' at the Linnean Society of London, but gives the earliest date of publication as March 1874. However, there is a copy in private hands dated 1874. See Lucas (2026) for discussion of the date of publication.

For reply, see M to J. Francis, 29 March 1874.
