Mit dieser Monatspost, edler Freund, sende ich Ihnen wieder eine Anzahl Algen, welche auf meinen Antrieb von Mrs Meredith bei Orford an der Ostküste Tasmaniens gesammelt wurden. Diese Dame, welche ein poetisches Album der Landpflanzen Tasmaniens heraus gegeben hat vor einer Reihe Jahren, wird Ihnen noch manches Schöne aus der Meerflora ihrer Insel liefern können.

Für Caulerpa scalpelliformis u C. Harveyi haben wir jetzt neue Localitäten.
Da ich nicht weiss, — wenigstens nicht mit Gewissheit —, ob Ihr Postamt mit dem unserigen in Reciprocität steht, so habe ich das Packet an meine London Agenten gesandt, mit der Anweisung es von dort zu frankieren.

With this month's mail, noble friend, I am sending you once again a number of algae, which were collected on my urging by Mrs Meredith near Orford on the east coast of Tasmania.1 This lady, who a number of years ago published a poetical album about the land plants of Tasmania,2 will be able to furnish you with other beautiful specimens from the ocean flora of her island.3
A letter from the lady is enclosed.4
We now have new localities for Caulerpa scalpelliformis and C. harveyi.
As I do not know, — at least not with certainty, — whether your post office has reciprocal arrangements with ours, I have sent the packet to my London agents with the instruction to forward it from there prepaid.
