From Hermann Püttmann   12 January 1875

Melbourne Deutsche Liedertafel.

Melbourne, 12th January, 1875.

Dear Sir,

I have the honor to inform you that a Moonlight Entertainment of this Society will be held on the Evening of W ednesday , the 20th instant, in St. James's Park, Hawthorn, in the Grounds of H. R. Harwood, Esq. , who has most kindly placed them at the disposal of the Liedertafel for this occasion.

The spacious Grounds are pleasantly situated on the river bank, secure from intrusion, and within a few minutes' walk from the Hawthorn Railway Station and the Terminus of the Richmond Omnibuses respectively; from both these points, Visitors will be guided to the spot by directions placed along the way.

In addition to Part Singing by the Liedertafel, arrangements for Dancing will be made, and the Grounds illuminated. Refreshments (including Tea, Coffee, &c.) will be obtainable at town prices, and Visitors accommodated with Seats as far as possible.

To meet the unusual expenditure, a charge of 1s. 6d. will on this occasion be made for Gentlemen's Tickets (Members included); Ladies admitted free, by ticket. Members may introduce their friends , but no one will be admitted without such introduction.

You will contribute to the success of this effort and facilitate the arrangements of the Committee by ordering your Tickets beforehand. These may be obtained either from Messrs. Nicholson and Ascherberg , 21 Collins Street East, or from the undersigned, at 37 Flinders Lane West.

Respectfully,

By order of the Committee ,

H. W. PÜTTMANN,

Hon. Secretary.

In addition to the ordinary Trains for Hawthorn, a Special Train will leave Melbourne at 7.30 p.m. on the 20th.
