From Ferdinand von Mueller to James Agnew   20 Feb 1875

Melbourne

20/2/75

Herewith, dear Dr Agnew, I send the remaining and finishing portion of the phytographic Census.1 Please change the name of Hypericum gramineum in the portion already sent to Hypericum Japonicum, Thunberg flor. Japon, 295, t.31., as Thunbergs name has two years precedence over that of G. Forster.2 All Hypericums of Tasmania belong to one species.

Regardfully your

Ferd. von Mueller.

Hypericum gramineum

Hypericum Japonicum

See M to J. Agnew, 19 February 1875.

The requested change was made in the MS before publication, see B75.13.10, p. 75.

H. gramineum was described by J. G. A. Forster (1786), p. 53; H. japonicum was described in Thunberg (1784), p. 295.
