Dear Sir

On my return from Ballarat2 where I was spending a few days, I found your letter of the 17th inst3 awaiting me. I will to the best of my ability comply with your wish with regard to the Swainsonas of this district. I have gathered a few small annual plants which I will send shortly; they are not very plentiful in this locality.

The specimen of Acacia cultriformis I sent you was procured out of a garden here, but I am almost certain that the shrubs I saw last August at Mount Arapiles4 were one and the same species. I shall be going up there before long and make sure of the identity of the shrub. If it proves to be a different kind I shall forward you a specimen of it.

You have forgotten to say anything about the double Epacris I sent with the last collection, as I should wish to know if such a thing was ever heard of before. It makes a splendid show in the garden, being covered with blossoms of a bright rosy hue.

I remain

dear Sir

very sincerely yours

St Eloy D'Alton
