From Ferdinand von Mueller to James Agnew   23 Dec 1875

23/12/75

Since I wrote to you, dear Dr Agnew,1 I had access to the illustrated plate of Vaccinium Rollisoni.2 It may now be added that it differs from V. Whitmeei also in hairy pedicels and especially filaments.3

Regardfully your

Ferd. von Mueller.

Vaccinium Rollisoni

Vaccinium Whitmeei

M to J. Agnew, 21 December 1875.

Curtis's Botanical Magazine, ser. 3, vol. 7 (1851), plate 4612 (text by W. J. Hooker). IPNI (accessed 3 September 2024) spells the name V. rollisonii; Hooker used V. rollisoni.

An edited version of this letter was published as a footnote to p. 164 of B76.13.02, in which M described Vaccinium whitmeei F. Muell. and published a list of Whitmee's Samoan collections.
