To Edward Ramsay   30 July 1876

30/7/76.

Tell me kindly, dear Mr Ramsay, whether any living plants of the Cape York Caryota (C. Alberti F.v.M) are obtainable in Sydney and if so, at what price. The species was recently described in Germany from my notes,1 and I should like to have a few living plants to send home

I hope you will not be displeased that I trouble you so much, but I really do not know of any one else in Sydney, to whom I could apply in a case like this.

Regardfully

Ferd. von Mueller.

Caryota Alberti

Wendland & Drude (1875), p. 221-2. M is acknowledged as the author of the name 'in literis ad H. Wendland 1874'; the collector is given as 'Dalmel', in error for 'Daemel'.
