From Charles Prentice to Ferdinand von Mueller   8 Sep 1876

Brisbane

Sep 8. 1876

Dear Baron,

I almost blush to send you so well marked a plant as the enclosed, but I cannot make up my mind satisfactory about it; it grows near the banks of a saltwater (inland) creek; perfectly glabrous, except it is lasianthous, with four extended scarcely didynamous stamens, the regular calyx of Myoporum, and the irregular flowers of Verbenaceae or Scrophulariaceae, and the habit and general appearance of Duboisia —1

Is the Eugenia I formerly enclosed Smithii, or myrtifolia? in either case the leaves are smaller (uniformly) than the description. With a renewed apology

I am

Yours sincerely

Ch. Prentice

The Baron Von Mueller

Κ. Τ. λ2
