[Baron Von Mueller advising of consignment of seeds for Hummocks planting.]2
Letter not found; item is an entry in the minutes only, recording the reading of M’s letter at a meeting of the Borough Council held on 4 October 1876, ‘to be acknowledged with thanks’. See also M to W. Odgers, 26 September 1876 (in this edition as 76-09-26b), and M to H. Read, October 1876 (in this edition as 76-10-00a).
The Belfast Gazette added that M's letter informed the Council 'that another parcel of seeds was being sent to the Council. Part of this consisted of Morass grass, and he recommended that the half be sown at once on the loose coast sand in the district. The other part consisted of lupin seeds, which were also for binding the loose sand, but they should only be sown in places to which cattle could not get access. It was agreed that a letter of thanks be forwarded to the Baron' (Belfast Gazette, 6 October 1876).
