I go for about two months to West-Australia, dear Mr Shillinglaw, to collect & observe for my Department.1 I suppose there will be plenty of time for biographic notes til I return in December.2 Otherwise reprint simply what you may find in the London book.3
i.e. the entry on M in Men of the time (London, 1875), pp. 744-5; the entry in Men of the time in Australia: Victorian series (Melbourne, 1878), p. 138, is much shorter.
