To Graham Berry   12 May 1878

Melbourne 12/5/78.

The honorable Graham Berry, M.L.A.,

Chief Secretary.

Sir

I have the honor to transmit herewith a report on the forest-resources of West-Australia,1 which document has arisen from my observations during November & December last, when on request of the hon. Mr. Goldsworthy, C.M.G., you were so good to permit me to prolong my travels with a view of investigating the forests of that Colony. As a forest-board has recently been appointed there, and as it is expected from me to furnish a report on the results of my observations, I would respectfully suggest, that this document be forwarded to the honorable the Colonial Secretary of Western Australia for communication to the honorable Malcolm Fraser, Chairman of the Forest-Board of that Colony.2

I have the honor to be,

Sir, your obedient servant

Ferd. von Mueller,

Gov. Botanist.
