By this (quasi) duplicate letter I wish merely to repeat,1 that I beg to propose the Rev. W. Potter of Emerald Hill near Melbourne a F.R.G.S., and trust that your Lordship will kindly cause this worthy gentleman's election to be seconded, he by his literary work well deserving the honor of being admitted into the geographic Society.2

Potter was proposed at the meeting of 11 November 1878 and elected on 25 November 1878. His proposers were M and Rawson W. Rawson (see certificate dated 4 September 1878). He is recorded in both 1890 and 1894 as having been removed from the Fellowship.
