From Ferdinand von Mueller to John Buchanan   30 Aug 1878

30/8/78.

I have been on the sickbed for three weeks, dear Mr Buchanan,1 and am still so very enfeebled that I cannot write at length. Pray do not trouble about the sections of the fern trees, unless quite handy. I do not wish to involve you in trouble & expense; I really have no claims on your goodness. Can you procure the showy floating water plant with comparatively large white flowers of your northern rivers? Mr Kirk sent me a flower many years ago, but no leaves. He must have got it from some settler.

With regardful remembrance

Ferd von Mueller.

I have the real Zannichellia palustris now also from Australia; so you may have it there as well,2 though you seem to have Lepilaena also.
