From Wladimir de Niedman to Ferdinand von Mueller   24 Oct 1878

Brisbane, Oct. 24. 78.

Office Botanical Gardens.

Baron Ferdinand v. Muller

Melbourne.

Sir,

On my ramble through the bush in the vicinity of Brisbane I came across a Tecoma, of which I take the pleasure to enclose a branch and some flowers. I dont think ever have seen anything like it before; the leaf resembles a good deal to Tecoma— leafs very glossy and never more then 5 leafletts together. It is a free blooming creeper; the labium of the carolla is of a flesh collor, the venes being purplish — the inner ground centre of the flower is dark purple. As the plant is not abundant I take the liberty to apply to your authority to ascertain if it is a Novelty — or not — if yes — please to call it T. Stuarti,1 as the locality where it grows belongs to this gentleman, but I leave it all to Yourself.

I am

Dear Sir

Yours very truly

Wladimir de Niedman Adj. Bot.

Tecoma jasminoides

Tecoma Stuarti
