From Ferdinand von Mueller to William Odgers   14 Apr 1879

Melbourne,

14 April 1879.

W.H.Odgers Esqr.

Undersecretary.

Sir,

In compliance with the request, conveyed by your circular N.14441 I have the honor to submit herewith my propositions for the estimates of the Gov. Botanists Department during the financial year 1879-1880. No alterations in the estimates of last year are made by me, except that I have raised the salaries of the two Assistants by £25 (this being nearly equivalent to the increment of classified officers), and as I feel sure that faithful services of any officers will be recognized, I hope, that this small addition to last years vote will meet with the approval of the hon. the Chief Secretary. I need not add, that I should hail with gratitude any additional provision, which the Ministerial Chief may feel pleased to render for the resuscitation of my Department as a whole, and if desired can afford fuller explanations of my views on this subject.

I have the honor to be, Sir,

Your obedient

Ferd. von Mueller,
