I have gone carefully through the literature on Leptorrhynchus elongatus, dear Mr Tepper,2 and now find that the name L. elongatus DC is attached to the large species, although most later authors have applied it to the small species with yellow flowers and long-beaked small fruit. For the latter, the oldest name is L. medius Cunningham, and L. rhytidanthe Bentham belongs to it as synonym.
With best greetings
Ferd. von Mueller.
Is the root of the larger species perennial and that of the small really always annual? You can best ascertain this there, also the possible constancy of the flower colour.
Leptorrhynchus elongatus
Leptorrhynchus medius
Leptorrhynchus rhytidanthe
