From John Brown   5 December 1879

Forest Board Office,

Adelaide, 5/12/79

Dear Sir Ferdinand,

I have just returned from a minute examination of the tree from which Mr McEwin sent you specimens lately,1 and which you say is E. goniocalyx. I find that as you remark, it is the same species as the Wirrabara2 one to which I drew your attention last year and in Septr last.3

At Wirrabara the tree is found in patches here and there in the forest — sometimes in the hollows and at other times on the ridges. I have not observed it anywhere as yet but at Wirrabara and at Mr McEwins place in the Mt Lofty Ranges.4 I will forward you specimen of the Wirrabara one soon.

Yours very truly

J. E. Brown
