From John Brown   8 December 1879

Adelaide, 8/12/79

Dear Sir Ferdinand,

Your favor of 2d. inst. received this morning.1 I am glad that you have been able to settle satisfactorily the difference between E. hemiphloia and E. Behriana.2

The Bark of E. Behriana is (though smooth) generally of a dark colour. The tree is as frequently one stemmed as with several stems.

I was up before a Commission on Public Works being held here at present, and quoted largely from your valuable work on "Select Plants."3 I am trying to get our Public Works Dept. to include E. leucoxylon in specifns for Railways &c

Yours very truly

J. E. Brown
