Dear Sir, —

I send a specimen of an Olearia that does not answer to any species described in Hooker's Handbook.2 I found it growing abundantly out of the cliffs between Orepuki and the Waiau River. It grows from 3 to about 7 or 8 feet high, and appears to be confined to the cliffs. Will you please kindly examine it, and let me know whether it is a new species or only a variety of one of the known species?

Yours truly,

P. Goyen.

Dr Mueller,

Melbourne.
